Christmas at Indian offices has become its own small festival: a decorated corner, a cake on the last working day and, almost always, Secret Santa. The gifts do not need to be expensive. They do need a little more thought than a last minute run to the nearest store.
Company gifts for the whole team
If the company is giving everyone a gift, keep it seasonal but useful. A box with good coffee or hot chocolate, cookies and a mug, or a small wellness kit for the winter, works for almost everyone. Add a card from leadership that thanks people for the year.
Christmas box ideas that travel well
- Coffee, tea or hot chocolate with a mug
- Cookies, brownies or a fruit cake with a decent shelf life
- A candle or a small diffuser
- A planner or desk calendar for the new year
Secret Santa rules that keep it fun
- Set one budget for everyone and say it clearly, so nobody overspends or feels short changed
- Ask people to write two or three likes on their slip: coffee or tea, sweet or savoury, a hobby
- Keep it anonymous until the reveal
- Pick a reveal day and stick to it
Let the company sponsor it. Some teams have the company cover Secret Santa with one good box per person, so everyone gets something equally nice and nobody worries about the budget.
Secret Santa ideas by budget
| Budget | Ideas |
|---|---|
| Under ₹500 | A good mug, a plant in a small pot, a box of cookies, a fun notebook |
| ₹500 to ₹1,000 | A steel bottle, a coffee kit, a scented candle, a desk organiser |
| ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 | A gourmet snack box, a wellness kit, a planner with a good pen |
Ordering for the whole office
For 25 boxes or more, it is easier to order one design for everyone, with your logo on the box and a festive note inside. Order by mid December so gifts arrive before people leave for the holidays.
